Barney is currently in Seattle, recuperating from his second shoulder replacement, and attending the USC Washington football game (USC won). It's difficult to type with one's arm in a sling so he has asked me to let you know the distributor has published the "official" press release for the Cagney & Lacey DVDs -- both the LIMITED EDITION and the boxed set of 119 episodes.
The LIMITED EDITION can only be purchased through the Cagney & Lacey official website and the order form will be posted on the site no later than Tuesday, October 16th (we believe). It will give you all the information you need re purchase price and shipping, but the boxed set is available for pre-order on-line through Amazon USA and Amazon Canada.
Both women will be doing radio, television and print interviews and we will keep you up to date on www.cagneyandlacey.com.
It has been a long struggle, but well worth it! Best wishes to family and friends with special thanks from me to Jackie Danson, Gail Reese, Ann Wilson, John V. Fahey and the fan clubs.

hope these boxes will be sent overseas. Not only in North America.
ReplyDeleteThe cost of the boxed set at Amazon is $189.99. That is $50.00 dollars more than what is stated here and in the "official press release". Just wanting to know why such a big discrepancy? Is the limited edition going to be a lot more than stated, also? I still plan on ordering it but it helps to know how much money I really need to put aside.

So excited that the box set is nearly ready... gonna be refreshing into the early hours to make sure I do not miss out... Hope Barney is feeling better; one of the things I'm looking for the most in the box set is him reading his autobiog - should be excellent!

THank you for the update. I must have checked the website 10 times today waiting to fill out the order form! Haha. To be this close to FINALLY getting this series on DVD is unbelievable. I've been a fan since 1982 and I'm SOOOO tired of rewatching the series over the years on my VHS tapes which I mostly taped off Lifetime and TNN, where the episodes are heavily edited. Watching the series on DVD will be like watching new episodes since I have not seen them in their unedited form in DECADES!!! Thanky you Barney so much for persevering all these years.

ReplyDeleteIs your site robust enough to handle the expected throng of would-be-buyers when the DVD set finally comes up for order?
Much bigger corporate sites (including government ones) have crashed in the past under the sheer weight of numbers trying to get through.
I'd hate to see it crack under the strain when people jump in to order a copy!

I'm having a hard time getting my comment to post. Just wanted to say I can't wait for this collector's set. I will be heartbroken if I somehow miss out. I'm driving my husband nuts. :)
ReplyDeleteThis show is my favorite of all time...I loved the way the characters interacted and the series was so well-written and the acting so good, that you just felt you knew the characters and cared about their lives. I also appreciated the way they tackled tough subjects....way ahead of anybody else.
Barney, hope you get well soon and thanks to everybody involved in getting this done. I know it took great effort, but I hope you can see that the effort was worth it. There are a lot of grateful fans out here!

ReplyDeleteI am so excited for the limited edition set!! I've been streaming reruns through Hulu (and before that Netflix) and it's just not the same as watching on DVD! I first caught the series in reruns on Lifetime when I was a teenager, and it's still one of my top two favorite shows (the other being Dr. Quinn which has a lot of former C&L actors on it!).

Hi CagneyandLaceysWebSquad, I just ordered my dvd set from Visual Entertainment Inc. In the info it reads total 38 dvds. Is that correct and this set is it the limited edition since it read all episodes and movie and booklet. And if the set is the autographed set since it did not state that. Please let me know.

I'd like to know if it is feasible to try to be patient and wait for this Limited Edition set to be available here, or if it is safe to order from VEI's tumblr site. I will say that they have responded fairly quickly when someone posts of having a problem.

Have now bought and it will be coming to Australia :) VEI is having trouble with its website and has put up an alternative way. So looking forward to it! And amazed that VEI is selling the Limited Edition so cheaply. Much cheaper than Amazon is listing the basic boxset for.

I'm in the UK and I was able to order through the VEI site. I used PayPal to checkout, and was able to change the country using a drop down menu.
ReplyDeleteShipping to the UK was CA$25, though I imagine we'll get some heavy import charges at this end too.
It's very exciting to know I can now just relax and look forward to it arriving!!!
