When I was eight I liked "Charlie's Angels", "Wonder Woman" and "Bionic Woman" because they seem almost like fairy tales and the situations were not exactly "realistic"; with my friends I played Charlie's Angels, my doll's name was Jill Munroe or Jaime Sommers. I did not know already anything about "feminism".
Then I grew up, and I loved "Cagney & Lacey," I love it even more now that I'm forty: here we are on another "level", the characters and the situations are true and real, this women were true and real ! It's a very contemporary show, much more than some TV show broadcast today.
Mrs. Gless and Mrs. Daly are two great actresses, their performance has been extraordinary; great scripts, great direction.
The only thing that surprises me is that the executive producer is . . . a man!
Thanks Barney!
P.S. As Cagney says about her car ( on ep. " Capitalism ") :
" A true masterpiece never dies ".
